Don't forget the poor orphans

A truely unfortunate event occurs when a child is born. As if the world has to re-balance, tilting itself in the opposite direction, bringing tragedy to attain equilibrium from the miracle of life itself.

Dogs and Cats... Poor orphans of an event they had no control over. Look at their pitiful faces, full of unfulfilled dreams of scratched bellies and petted heads. They are overlooked and shooed away as nuisances. How things used to be so different for these poor forgotten children. Once they held the proud mantles of "baby" and "princess" and "big boy". Now they might as well be named "Get down!" or "Stop it". Will they ever be loved again as they were before we had children? By us, no. We have moved on, only turning a bit of attention to these beasts in passing or when the kids have gone to bed. No these poor, furry, simple creatures will have to wait. One day the children that have stolen the spotlight will grow. Their childlike grabbing and tail pulling will turn into scratched bellies and petted heads. On that day they will be loved again.

Yes, we too are guilty of such neglect...of course we have 3 young kids and a baby.

Atari lives for the moments when I toss a ball or kick a soccer ball that she gets to chase and once in a while, I will actually do it long enough that she gets her fill of it...but that's only once in a while.

I love how you named your dog atari. It's things like that that remind me how cool you are Marc.
